Several UK based artists will respond to this invitation with site-specific art works & in situ installations. Deleuze and Guattari introduced A Thousand Plateaus by outlining the concept of the rhizome (quoted from A Thousand Plateaus):
• 1 and 2: Principles of connection and heterogeneity: “…any point of a rhizome can be connected to any other, and must be,”
• 3. Principal of multiplicity: only when the multiple is effectively treated as a substantive, “multiplicity” that it ceases to have any relation to the One
• 4. Principle of a signifying rupture: a rhizome may be broken, but it will start up again on one of its old lines, or on new lines
• 5 and 6: Principle of cartography and decalcomania: a rhizome is not amenable to any structural or generative model; it is a “map and not a tracing”(Quotes by Wikipedia) “The concept of the Rhizome as developed by Deleuze and Guattari in A Thousand Plateaus is highly relevant to a discussion of a shifting configuration of media-elements; a conflation of language systems.
The idea of Lab 451London is that of a moveable laboratory for international artists to express & emphasize through their own unique art form; a language, whom as a Freedom embodies the way we see & represent the world around us.
The title refers to the dystopian novel from the American writer Ray Bradbury published in 1953 during the McCarthy era & the French New Wave filmmaker François Truffaut who wrote & directed a film adaptation of that novel in 1966.

Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you’re there.

The difference between the man who just cuts lawns and a real gardener is in the touching, he said. The lawn-cutter might just as well not have been there at all; the gardener will be there a lifetime.”

Rhizome’0002 “The Indian Summer” at the Camden Image Gallery
Born in London 1978, Alex Fox is a British artist based in Hackney. He studied both History (University of York) and Fine Art (Wimbledon, City and Guilds of London Art School), and has exhibited sculptures, prints and sculptures including New Voices in Hackney Art, BL-NK Shoreditch. His practice is currently concerned with figurative sculpture, often with a satirical slant – ranging from small scale pieces paying homage to ‘classical’ nudes and portraiture to larger rough hewn rapidly executed forms, using basic cheap materials – scavenged ply, 2 by 4 and plaster of Paris.

Lab451London; On perspective at the Camden Image Gallery
Chris is a mix media artist and a musician originally from Florida. During his BA at Goldsmith University in London, he travelled and exhibited in Russia, Israel, France… He played many times in open Mic/Experimental music scenes in London. His work emphasis popular culture, mainstream medias, current politic affairs…Through his lyrics, music and visual works; he’s sharing his very unique poetic/humorous view of every day life – A definite dry sense of humour accompanied by an enjoyable twisted creativity!
For the exhibition Rhizome’0003 “Liberty” Chris composed four tracks that could be accompanied by improvised lyrics or thoughts talking about freedom.
Daniella’s work investigates subjectivity and affective agency through different types of materiality. Her research looks at states of consciousness, animism, material culture and humanist philosophy. Through installation, sculpture, text and live performance, Daniella’s practice explores fluidity and liminality, and proposes questions regarding the nature of experience. The work tests how permeable the boundaries between collectivity and individuality are, and how identity is negotiated.

Dagmar Zeromska is a Swedish mezzo soprano with Polish heritage. She recently completed her BMus (Honours) degree and Postgraduate studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, studying with Susan Waters.
Born in Lund, Sweden, Dagmar began taking singing lessons at the age of nine with Karin Fagius and later with Kerstin Grevelius. In 2009-10 she studied classical singing and piano at the Swedish college Vadstena Folkhögskola, under the tuition of Monica Thomasson Ph.D. During her studies she has received coaching and participated in master classes by acclaimed singers and musicians like Torbjörn Lillieqvist, Sarah Walker, Laura Sarti, Richard Jackson, Adrian Thompson, Emanuele Moris, Eugene Asti, Stephan Loges, Edith Wiens and Mary Hammond, to mention a few.
Dagmar is a frequent recitalist in London and regularly performs at different events in the UK and Scandinavia. Notably, she has sung in venues such as St. Paul’s Cathedral, Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Barbican, Mansion House and The Dorchester. Previous roles in opera productions and scenes include: Echo – The Adventures of Pinocchio (Dove), Ottavia and Fortuna – L’incoronazione di Poppea (Monteverdi), Secretary – The Consul (Menotti), Annio – La Clemenza di Tito (Mozart), Jemmy – Guglielmo Tell (Rossini), Tisbe – La Cenerentola (Rossini). She also performed in musical theatre shows Songs for a New World (J. R. Brown) and Chaplin (R. Anderson).
Besides singing, Dagmar has a background in dancing and fashion modelling, which has gained her valuable stage experience from a young age. She is also a well-practised ensemble singer, having been a member of serveral choirs and ensembles over the years, with which she recorded CD albums, appeared on Television and won international competitions. Dagmar is also a Swedish Language coach, working with singers at the Royal Opera House in London.

Connie Luk is currently doing her Master degree at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, studying piano accompaniment, with Pamela Lidiard.
Originally from Hong Kong, Connie received her Bachelor of Art with Honours majoring in Music from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2010 and worked as an active piano accompanist and choral member. During her time at the Guildhall School, Connie has received coaching from Graham Johnson, Gordon Back, Eugene Asti, Iain Burnside, to mention a few, and performed in master classes with notable international pianists such as Jonathan Papp, Anna Tilbrook and Julius Drake.

Geraldine Gallavardin is a conceptual contemporary French artist; a curator, poet, musician & actress based in London. She’s the founder of Lab451london. She’s originally from Lyon, France. She holds two MA in Fine Art, one from “Les Beaux-Arts de Grenoble”, France (1997) & one from Chelsea College of Fine Art & Design, London (1999). Geraldine has been in the Art Scene since the 90s. She collaborates with the Camden Image Gallery in London as a curator & art consultant.
She used participatory/readymade performances art (mainly as a tribute), social sculptures, installations, drawings, videos & live art as her main artistic language. She used Free Improvised Music/soundscape in her performances & had played abroad & in the UK with band such as “The A Band”. She has exhibited internationally in Art Centres & in the UK in places such as the ICA, the South London Gallery, during the London Biennale in-situ on the lawn of Tate Modern/The Serpentine Gallery…
She’s organising few shows in the months coming for the Camden Image Gallery & other art venues. She’s curating an Art Residency in her website amongst others online projects. She’s planning to open a private Gallery in the autumn.
She was acting in few films during her artistic career & more recently in “Third Contact” filmed in London by British director Simon Horrocks, the film is now available online (www.thirdcontactmovie.com). She is acting in the film “The Mentor” by director Ngozi Enuma since 2014.

“Three years ago I finally realised a long held dream and became a City of London Guide. I would like to tell you about my journey towards realising that dream and tell you about some of the interesting experiences I have had over the last three years. I see the City with new eyes and hope that I have helped others to discover things they never knew about it.”
During the opening Rhizome’0003 ‘Liberty’ Grethe Hauge will do a talk about the St John on Bethnal Green Church, a grade 1 Listed Building designed by Sir John Soane and built between 1826 and 1828.
Ian MacGowan has been playing improvised music since arriving from Dublin in 1990 and has collaborated with Paul Rutherford, John Stevens, Lol Coxhill and Eddie Prévost among others. He helped to institute the London Improvisers Orchestra in 1998 with Steve Beresford and Evan Parker after the Butch Morris London Skyscraper tour, and also founded The Gathering with Maggie Nichols.
In 2000 he recorded his second CD as a leader, Daybreak, with Derek Bailey, Veryan Weston, Gail Brand and Oren Marshall. Into the twenty-first century, as well as regularly playing with UK and Irish improvisers, he has also performed with Wadada Leo Smith, Greg Tate’s Burnt Sugar Arkestra, guitarists Han-earl Park and Reeves Gabrels, the Poet and Detroit legend John Sinclair, and New York based drummer Harris Eisenstadt. He has recently collaborated with drummer G Calvin Weston and has been featured on a version of John Zorn’s gamepiece Rugby which will be released by Tzadik.
MacGowan.. “is now a significant figure on the Emanem axis of British improvisers, a formidable technician and a profoundly intuitive music maker, with the ability to deliver exactly the right sound, or very often the right sonic texture, at the psychological moment.” (Brian Morton, Point of Departure)

Ludovic Pujol/Skew Wiff
Skew Wiff’s practice is a blend of puppetry, performance art and drawing with a strong preference for site-specific work, theatre without walls and other unconventional spaces in London where he currently resides.
“I make work that questions the nature of the human mind and its relation with the material world (body, objects, machinery – habits, addictions). It is a reflection about what we need to live. I am particularly interested in the elements of our daily life that are not visible and without which we could not live (breath, thought-process, emotions, voice/silence, memories, mental imagery).
My work is playful and surreal, crude or subtle but always disturbing enough to leave the viewer perplexed so that the movements of her or his mind is physically felt.”
Skew Wiff is an active member of Outside Puppets collective, CLUSTER BOMB collective and a frequent collaborator of ]Performance S P A C E[ artists.

“Reminiscences Over A Broken Gold Watch”
If I include some thinking time whilst alone in the womb, I have been 50 years on this planet and I now feel more of an inclination to look at the past in terms of changes and consistency. What is different: in the world, what I do, what I have, what I want? What is the same: in my world, about how I act, about how others act? Firstly, and being more honest than when I was young, I care a whole lot less than I did then. In particular my thirst for any knowledge, whether actual or philosophical has diminished. Not what you were hoping to hear, but this need to enquire has only detracted from the more important aspects of life to the point where I don’t actually know what is important anymore.
About the Broken Gold Watch
The principle of the Broken Gold Watch is about the maintenance and retention of things or the performing of activities beyond their usefulness. The watch is broken, it does not work anymore and cannot be used as a tool to observe the time. It is made of gold, a metal that has a sense of value beyond its real monetary wealth. In a fairy tale world gold is still the currency of choice. My broken gold watch is the saxophone and music.

Oliver Evelyn-Rahr’s practice involves a diverse range of disciplines from performance and video to social programs and sculpture. A recent graduate of the Artist Teacher MA program at Goldsmiths, his most recent work has been exploring the complex overlapping territories between the worlds of Fine Art, Theatre and Film.

Ram Samocha is a multi-disciplinary artist working in performance and visual arts.
As an immigrant artist, Samocha focuses on the issues of personal and global transformation by combining drawing, video, installation, and performance. Using a personal artistic language that speaks via abstraction and the physical process of repetitive line-based actions, the work reflects on global issues while eschewing an overt political narrative.
Samocha’s work is part of various museum and private collections and has been shown in The UK, Israel, Italy, The Netherlands, Germany, Mexico, The United States, and Canada.

“I have studied photography at Kensington and Chelsea College where I had the opportunity to approach the medium from different angles, finding my own way to express myself through the lens. My “natural habitat” is the street, travel and documentary . Recently getting closer to fine art & conceptual photography. I am a very keen black and white analogue photographer, I love experimenting with old alternative processes and techniques.”

In his Revolution Machines series of day-long performances (2001-2010) and publications, Zuky Serper examined boundaries of audience participation, authorship of artwork and the value of labour in artworks. He is currently artist in residence at the Centre for World Environmental History and convenor of Activists and Acdemia Forum in the University of Sussex, supported by the British Academy. He has an ongoing interest in the concepts of the un-artist and community gardening.
Zuky has been working as a garden educator in Reay Primary School in South London since 2008, following artist residencies in schools in Exeter, Basildon, Walthamstow, London. In his pedagogic work Zuky developed curriculum and out of doors activities to encourage children’s and teachers’ investigation and enjoyment of work, art and process in the garden. He is a visiting tutor in the sculpture department at Brighton University, and taught Critical Theory in Goldsmiths College, London. He is a visual artist with background in horticulture.
Zuky Serper (b. 1965) is currently working on his stickworks and WONKYTOYS, has lived and worked in London and Lewes, UK since 1999, and previously lived in Kibbutz Sa’ar (1986-1999).
For Rhizome’0003 ‘Liberty’, Zuky will show a serie of his anthropomorphic sculptures amongst others.
